Sail into ancient Egypt aboard the Akhnaton Dahabiya, an atmospheric traditional boat that offers one of the best-value ways to cruise the Nile by sail. Running the classic four-day route between Aswan and Luxor, the Akhnaton carries a small group of guests to peaceful moorings and beautifully preserved temples that the big ships bypass. On board you explore Kom Ombo and Edfu at a relaxed pace, cross the Esna Lock under sail, and unwind on an open deck as the Nile Valley slips quietly past. With cosy cabins, fresh Egyptian meals and a welcoming crew, the Akhnaton Dahabiya is a superb choice for travellers seeking an authentic, intimate Nile sailing experience without a luxury price tag.

Quiet luxury on the Nile
Slow travel on the Nile at its very best. Just a few cabins, a lovely crew and quiet moorings. Highly recommend a dahabiya.
Quiet luxury on the Nile
Our dahabiya was such an intimate way to sail the Nile. Perfect for anyone wanting a quieter Nile journey. Would do it again in a heartbeat.
Intimate and peaceful
The dahabiya experience was calm, elegant and special. The visits to Edfu and Kom Ombo, the quieter Nile temples and Silsila and the riverbank villages were real highlights. Would do it again in a heartbeat.
